Esta semana hemos presentado nuestro proyecto a los compañeros y compañeras de la clase.

Ha sido muy divertido poder explicar nuestros trabajos mediante el póster. Todos los integrantes de cada grupo hemos preparado muy bien la información que queríamos presentar.

¡Hola a todos!

Estos días hemos estado muy ocupados con nuestro proyecto. Hemos aprendido mucho, por eso en este post queremos compartir con vosotros nuestros trabajos. Cada grupo ha realizado un documento explicando las características del animal, como se reproduce o  en que lugares los podemos encontrar.

El proceso de búsqueda de información ha sido muy largo, ya que teníamos que leer muchas páginas de información para luego sintetizar y quedarnos con lo más importante.

Esperamos que os resulten muy interesantes y aprendáis tanto como nosotros.

¡Hola a todos!

Queremos daros las gracias por vuestro apoyo, las visitas a nuestro blog están subiendo mucho y ya han pasado de las 200. También, estamos muy contentos por los comentarios recibidos ya que nos motivan a seguir investigando y aprendiendo. Cada dia vemos cuantas visitas hay en nuestro blog y nos gusta ver como el número va incrementando.

Por otra parte, queremos pedir la colaboración de los padres y madres, para que vengan a nuestra clase a ayudarnos. Siempre es más divertido y motivador si nuestras familias participan con nosotros en la escuela.

Ya estamos empezando a traducir nuestras entradas al Inglés con la ayuda de una de las mamas de la clase. ¡Gracias a la mamá de Joshua por tu ayuda!

Además, queremos compartir con vosotros que tenemos registradas visitas en el blog de diferentes países del mundo como España, Israel o Alemania. En total son más de 10 países. ¡Es asombroso que la tecnología posibilite que puedan ver nuestro blog países tan diferentes y alejados de nosotros!

La clase de 3er Grado S.1

Hi to all!

We'd like to thank you for your support, the visits to our blog are increasing; we are above 200 visits now!  We are also very happy and thankful for the comments that have been received, as these motivate us to continue our research and learning.  Every day we look forward to checking the new visits, and love to watch that number grow.

On another note, we would like to request parent collaboration on our project.  We'd like to invite parents to come to the classroom and help us.  It is always so much more fun and motivating when we have parent involvement and participation in our classroom.

We have recruited one of our spanish speaking mom's to help us in the effort of translating our blog entries for us, so that more of you can understand our updates when you visit the blog.  Many thanks to Joshua's mom for her help!

We would also like to share with you that based on the blog statistics, we have visitors to our page from different countries around the world--namely Spain, Germany and even Israe!! In total there are over 10 countries on our list now.  It is amazing to see how technology and the internet allow our blog to be easily visible to countries near and far from us!

Empezamos a trabajar con la tabla de contenidos / Working with Table of Contents

Se les preguntó a los alumnos sobre los temas que querían estudiar y estos fueron los resultados:

• Manera de desplazarse y velocidad que alcanzan.
• Alimentación y cómo atrapan a sus presas.
• Cadena alimenticia.
• Donde se protegen, cuál es su refugio.
• Años que viven y cuál es la población en las diferentes selvas.

Tras esta lluvia de ideas pudimos dar forma a la tabla de contenidos y organizarla un poco. Quedó de la siguiente manera:

Today, we asked the students what information they were most intersted in learning about, and these were the results:

• Modes of travel, and what velocities are reached

Following the slew of ideas, we were able to form a table of contents and organize it a bit. Here is what we came up with:

Conocimientos previos / Previous Knowledge

Ya sabemos que son animales de la selva, pero entre todos queremos conversar para saber que datos más conocemos de cada animal. A continuación hemos registrado toda la información que conocemos:

1. Camaleón: “Sabemos que cambia de color” (Lola), “Mueve los ojos en diferente dirección.” (Joshua). “Tiene la lengua muy larga” (Atreal). “También comen insectos” (Chiara), “Pero no solo comen insectos, también comen pequeños pájaros pequeños” (Lola). “Yo creo que tienen tres dedos” (Molly).

2. Luciérnaga: “Tiene luz por la noche” (Will). “Yo creo que duermen boca a bajo” (Isaac). “Tiene alas con puntos” (Mckenzie). “Los machos tienen luces y atraen a las hembras” (Lola).

3. Casuario: “Es un animal muy grande” (Syrnel). “Puede correr muy rápido y patear” (Ethan).

4. Hipopótamo Pigmeo: “Son animales muy gordos” (Chiara). “Tienen buen carácter” (Milani). “Yo creo que pueden ser peligrosos” (Brennan), “Viven en el agua” (Syrnel).

5. Iguana Verde: “La iguana verde tiene patas pegajosas” (Mia). “Son animales pequeños” (Alejandro). “Comen insectos” (Ainhoa). “Tienen la lengua larga” (Lucas).

6. Anguila Eléctrica: “Tienen un aguijón eléctrico que les sirve para ver” (Elise). “Yo creo que da calambre a sus presas” (Dylan). “Es un animal muy largo” (Mia). “Se pueden confundir con algas” (Wyatt). “Parecen serpientes” (Chiara).  

Ahora ya podemos empezar a investigar para saber también si los datos que ya sabemos son ciertos.

We know these animals are wild, but among ourselves, we want to talk about them and find out what other information we might already know about each one. In following we share the information that we know about these animals before starting any real research.

1. Chameleon: "We know they change color" (Lola), "They move their eyes in different directions" (Joshua), "They have a very long tongue" (Atreal), "They eat insects" (Chiara), "They don't only eat insects, they also eat small birds" (Lola), "I think they have three fingers" (Molly).

1. Firefly: "They light up at night" (Will), "I think they live upside down" (Isaac), "They have dotted wings" (Mckenzie). "The males have lights and attract the females" (Lola).

1. Cassowary: "it is a very big animal" (Syrnel). "They can run really fast, and kick" (Ethan)

1. Pygmi Hippopotamus: "They are very fat animals" (Chiara), "they have a good temperament" (Milani), "I think they can be dangerous" (Brennan), "they live in the water" (Syrnel)

1. Green Iguana: "the green iguana has sticky feet" (Mia). "They are small animals" (Alejandro). "They eat insects" (Ainhoa). "They have long tongues" (Lucas).

1. Electric Eel: “They have an electric sting that helps them to 'see'" (Elise). "I think they stun their prey" (Dylan). "It's a long animal" (Mia), "They can be easily confused for algae" (Wyatt), "They resemble serpents" (Chiara).

...and now we are ready to begin our research and find out if in fact the information we have listed above is really true.

Our class has been divided into 6 groups, and we have chosen the animals that we would like to research. We have searched online, made selections and voted on those animals that most awaken our curiosity.

Proyecto de ciencias: Los Animales Salvajes / Science Project: Wild Animals

Ya hemos acabado los test OCCT, por eso ahora vamos a empezar un nuevo proyecto. Queremos investigar algunos de los animales que podemos encontrar en la selva.

El tema lo hemos escogido entre todos los compañeros y compañeras, ya que nos gustan mucho los animales. De esta manera iremos investigando lo que queremos saber sobre los animales y aprenderemos de forma divertida y dinámica los contenidos curriculares de la asignatura. También nos sirve para repasar conceptos de ciencias que ya sabemos y que hemos estudiado durante el curso.

Nos dividiremos en seis grupos de trabajo y cada grupo irá conjuntamente investigando sobre su animal.

Tenemos muchas ganas de empezar y poder ir escribiendo lo que vamos aprendiendo!

We are done with the OCCTs, and that's why it's now time to start a new project.  We would like to research and learn about some of the animals that can be found in the jungle.

Together, as a class we have agreed on this subject, as we all love animals.   We will investigate the things that we would like to find out about regarding the animals chosen, and will learn these things in a fun and dynamic manner.  This project will also help us to review some of the science concepts that we have studied and learned about this year in class.

The class will be divided into 6 different groups, and each group will work collaboratively to research the assigned animal.  

We are so excited to begin and will update this blog continuously to share with you, our audience, the things we are doing and learning as we investigate the animals assigned.
